UFC Ultimate Fighter

The complete lineup for the upcoming 10th season of The UFC Ultimate Fighter reality show has just been released and, to no one's surprise, Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson is headlining. In contrast to previous seasons, all 16 fighters automatically get a bed inside the TUF house this year, so there will be no fight off to see who actually deserves to get a place in the house.

Former UFC light heavyweight champs "Sugar" Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will be coaching opposite each other, pushing these aspiring heavyweights to levels they never knew existed. They will also face off as normal after the show with the winner likely to get a shot at the light heavy weight championship. With Rampage and Rashad both desperately wanting the title back, it should be a great showdown.

This year will be a bit different however from the previous year's series in the past. The Ultimate Fighter hosted two weight divisions and award deals to multiple fighters. This year, however, TUF 10 will only feature the heavyweights, and only a single six-figure contract will be awarded.

With fighters like Wes Sims and former IFL heavyweight champ Roy Nelson on the show, it certainly won't be easy for the street fighter. As always it will be interesting to see how people handle being in the house for weeks on end. It's not just about winning your fights, let's face it half the battle is not going nuts being in the house with such close contact with everyone.

The Ultimate Fighter series has always had some crazy things happen each season and I'm sure this will be no different. Probably the best part for me will be seeing coaches Rampage and Rashad together. I can't see these two getting on at all!

Hummer is an off-road vehicle produced by General Motors and was founded in 1995 with its headquarters located in Detroit, Michigan. Hummer has three different models coming off the production line each year. They are the H1, H2 and the H3. The H1 is a modified version of the Humvee, the vehicle used by the military also known as the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). Hummer introduced the H2 and H3 as smaller civilian market versions of the H1.

Humvees are designed to drive off-road through difficult terrain and became more familiar when the United States military used them in Operation: Desert Storm in 1991. In previous wars that the United States was involved in the military would use Jeeps to move their war generals and other members of the troops around from location to location. The Humvee was designed to navigate rough terrain and also had some armor placed on it specially for the military. After the H2 and the H3 were introduced by Hummer, they renamed the original vehicle, used by the military as the H1. The H1 is also available on the auto market today for civilian purchase but is not as popular as the other two models.
Hummer did not go international until 2006 when they decided to use select importers and distributors in Europe and some other markets. The H3 is produced in Port Elizabeth in South Africa. There are 300 Hummer dealers in 34 countries, with 173 of those dealers located within the United States.

The Hummer is the only vehicle in the United States that is offered with off-road tires, low-range transfer and a high-ground clearance. There are no two-wheel drive Hummers offered anywhere in the world as of yet. In 1993, before the corporation became known as Hummer, the Team Hummer Racing group was formed for competitions. Team Hummer picked up 11 wins at the Baja 1000 and has established itself as one of the best manufacturing companies involved in auto racing.

There are four concerns/criticisms about Hummer vehicles. They are poor fuel economy, safety, size and ecology safety. Hummer vehicles get on average 14 miles per gallon on the highway and only 10 miles per gallon in the city. They weigh in at roughly 6,000 pounds, which makes it illegal to drive the vehicles on certain streets and highways. Hummers do not offer side airbags, child safety locks, child seat tethers and stability control. Hummers also have large blind spots because of its massive body size which makes it difficult to park and dangerous to drive at times. Because of the size of Hummers, there are the blind spots but there are also problems parking and difficulty parking the vehicle in a garage. The fourth and final concern regarding Hummers is that they are not ecologically sound. They create noise pollution, air pollution and destroy wildlife when used in off-road activities.
As of September 3, 2008, Hummer was up for sale with no potential suitors named by GM although they claim that there is plenty of interest in the brand.

History of Civilian Jeep

CJ-2 1944 - 1945
Based on the Willys MB, the CJ-2 was the prototype for the first civilian version Jeep. And yes, CJ really does stand for Civilian Jeep. Only a few dozen CJ-2s were built. Originally known as "Agrijeeps", they were used at various agricultural test stations around the country.

CJ-2 A 1945 - 1949
The CJ-2A was the first of the production CJs. Over 200,000 units were manufactured. They featured flat fenders, split windshield (25" tall) framed in round tubing, top-mounted windshield wipers, tailgate, and side-mounted spare tire. Unlike the MB models, the CJs had "Willys" embossed on the hood sides and the windshield frame.

CJ-3 A 1949-1953
Very similar to the CJ-2A, with only a few (mostly cosmetic) changes. The CJ-3A featured flat fenders, a one-piece windshield (27" tall) mounted in square tubing, bottom-mounted wipers, air vent at bottom center of windshield frame, tailgate, side-mounted spare tire, and an 80" wheelbase. Over 130,000 were produced over 5 years.

CJ-3B 1953 - 1968
This "high-hood" Jeep was essentially a CJ-3A, fitted with the taller "Hurricane" F-head engine. It featured flat fenders, one-piece windshield (22.5" tall), and of course, the tall hood to fit the new engine. Over 150,000 were built. Although produced through 1968, sales diminished after the introduction of the CJ-5 in 1955.

CJ-4 1950
This is the "missing link" between the CJ-3A/3B and the CJ-5.Only one CJ-4 was built and it was one of the first prototypes to carry the new Willys "Hurricane" F-head engine. It combined the rear of a CJ-3A, the hood that would later appear on the M38A1, and a unique cowl and front fenders on an 81-inch wheelbase

CJ-5 1955 - 1983
The most successful of all the civilian Jeeps, the CJ-5 was in production for nearly 30 years, with over 600,000 units built. Inspired by the M38A1, it featured rounded fenders, one-piece windshield, factory door hinges, an 81" wheelbase (early models), fold-down tailgate, and side-mounted spare tire. Later models had an 83" wheelbase, no tailgate, rear-mounted spare tire, and a factory roll bar.

CJ-6 1956 - 1975
A common complaint among most short-wheelbase Jeep owners was the lack of room. Introducing the CJ-6, an extended version of the CJ-5. With its 101" wheelbase (early models), it afforded the storage room of a small pickup and the mobility of a Jeep. Later models were further stretched to 104 inches. Only 50,000 or so were produced

DJ-3 A 1956 - 1965
The DJ-3A "Dispatcher" was the first two-wheel drive universal Jeep. Basically it was a CJ-3A, but with 2WD. It was offered in soft top, hard top, and "surry gala" versions, with or without a tailgate. Most were used as recreational or delivery vehicles, although a special model was also manufactured for use as a postal truck

DJ-5 1965 - 1975

The DJ-5 "Dispatcher 100" replaced the DJ-3A in 1965. It was very similar to the CJ-5, except it was 2WD. The postal version, with a different grille (pictured here), also had an automatic transmission, extra large doorway, sliding door, and right-hand steering. AM General Corporation continued to produce variations into the 1980s.

DJ-6 1965 - 1968
Extended version of the DJ-5, similar to the CJ-6, but with 2WD like the DJ-5. This is a very rare vehicle; it took forever to find this picture! I got it from Derek Redmond's "The CJ3B Page" (photo by owners, Jim & Peg Marski)

CJ-7 1976 - 1986
The CJ-7 offered a compromise between the CJ-5 and CJ-6, with it's 93.5" wheelbase. In addition, the CJ-7's U-shaped door openings immediately distinguish it from it's predecessors. This was the first CJ model to offer an automatic transmission, hardtop, and doors (all as factory options). Over 375,000 units were produced over 10 years.

CJ-8 1981 - 1986
The CJ-8 "Scrambler" was an extended version of the CJ-7, featuring a 103.5" wheelbase. The Scrambler came in either soft-top or fiberglass hard-top models, which covered the cab only. With a roll bar in the "bed", the Scrambler looked like a CJ pickup truck. Less than 28,000 units were built during its short 5-year production period.

Wrangler/YJ 1987-1995
The Jeep YJ, sold as the Wrangler, replaced the much-loved but slower-selling Jeep CJ in 1987. It was a new design with a longer wheelbase, less ground clearance, and more comfort, and some of its inspiration came from its stable mate, the Jeep Cherokee, rather than from its CJ predecessor alone. (This prompted some Jeep purists to interpret the YJ as a "yuppie Jeep" upon the model's introduction.) 632,231 YJs were built through model year 1995. The YJ was replaced in 1996 by 1997's TJ. YJs are easily identifiable by their rectangular headlights

Wrangler/TJ 1997-pres
The TJ is a complete redesign over the Wrangler YJ, top to bottom, inside and out. The quad coil-spring suspension makes the TJ the best-performing and best-riding out-of-the-box short Jeep ever built. Other distinguishing features include a completely redesigned dash layout, dual airbags, and a return to the traditional round headlights.

Wrangler/TJ Rubicon 2003-pres
The 2003 TJ became available with some unique options. The package was only available in the new name Rubicon. This vehicle deserved the right to be called by the legendary trail name. Equipped with push button actuated locking Dana 44 axles front and rear, 4 to 1 low crawl ratio transfer case with the flange output shaft instead of a weak slip yoke and many more options not available on any production Jeep ever before

In 2004, Jeep introduced the Wrangler Unlimited with a 10 inch (~25.4 cm) longer wheelbase; it is also known by its unofficial designation of LJ. In 2005, Jeep released the Rubicon Unlimited, which has the wheelbase of the Unlimited and the off-road features of the Rubicon as well as many other comfort and convenience options not offered on other Wranglers.

JK Wrangler

The Wrangler Unlimited is in its final year of production to be replaced by the 2007 4-door JK Wrangler

Note: The CJ designation actually stands for "Civilian Jeep”. Over the years, many Jeep affectionatos have referred to the YJ as "Yuppie Jeep", and the TJ as "Trendy Jeep", etc, etc. But that's ridiculous; 'cause everyone knows that TJ really means

Tools in your off-road toolbox

Before heading off road, you should put some thought into what tools you'll need in your off-road hand tools and toolbox. Your aim is to have enough on hand so if something breaks when you're out on the trail, you'll be able to disassemble, repair, replace, and/or reassemble it in order to get yourself back on the road.
As a bare minimum, you'll want to have the following items on hand:
· Air pressure gauge
· Allen wrenches
· Baling wire
· Crescent wrench (small & medium)
· Electrical tape & spare connectors
· Grease (or a grease gun)
· Hammer
· Nuts & bolts (assorted sizes)
· Open end/box wrenches (3/8" to 3/4")
· Pliers - standard, needle-nose and channel lock
· Pocket/utility knife
· Screwdrivers - standard and phillips
· Socket set (3/8") with extensions

How To Cross High Water

High water crossings can be tough and dangerous at times. Here are some suggestions to make crossing water a little easier on you and your vehicle. Never cross water that is moving swiftly.
Difficulty: Hard
Time Required: Depends on the water
Here's How:
Determine how deep the water is and how smooth the bed of the crossing will be.
Lock in your hubs if they are manual hubs.
Put vehicle into 4-wheel drive. Put it into low range if you have low range on the transfer case.
If the water is going to be higher then the hubs; remove the fan belt or unhook the wires on an electric fan.
Make sure the air intake for your air cleaner isn't going to enter the water. Move it if you have to.
Cross water slowly!
After you are done with the water crossing replace all wires and/or belts.
If you relocated your air cleaner intake system put it back.
When you return home; check/drain all your axles, transfer case, and transmission and put new oil in.
Tips:
Water is much stronger then one would think. It could force the fan through the radiator. This is the reason for step four.
The air intake for the air cleaner can suck water right into the motor if it is low and isn't moved. This is the reason for step five.
Water and oil do not mix. If water gets into your axles or transmission, transfer case, motor or bearings; damage will be quick. This is the reason for step nine

Toyota FJ Cruiser Off-Road Review

The FJ Cruiser looks like one big brute, which is why it does not appeal to everybody. Either you love it or you hate it. This Toyota is actually a modern interpretation of the legendary FJ40, a tank-like truck which the Japanese automaker sold for more than a decade.
What seems to turn some people off is the outrageous size and stance making the FJ Cruiser look like it's up to no good. Truth is, when you finally get behind the wheel, this big SUV grows on you rather quickly.
A muscular V6The 239 horsepower generated by the 4.0-liter V6 are more than enough to move the near 2-ton FJ. That's because the 278 pounds-feet of torque are available early, allowing 0-100 accelerations in under 8.5 seconds. And with a towing capacity of up to 2,268 kilos (5,000 pounds), you can go on vacation with your boat, ATVs or trailer house.
With regard to fuel economy, my tester posted an average of 13.5 liters per 100 kilometers, which I find to be fairly reasonable.
When playing in the mud, the Toyota FJ Cruiser benefits from a good old 2-speed transfer case for RWD or 4WD operation. Believe me, the truck will be extensively covered in mud before it gets stuck, as we found out during Toyota's media launch two years ago and our comparative match last summer. Ever since coming to market, the new FJ has proven to be a sizeable threat to the iconic Jeep Wrangler.
Surprisingly, despite its amazing off-road capabilities, the FJ Cruiser fares pretty well on paved roads. Of course, you shouldn't expect great comfort over long rides, but the suspension adjusts nicely whether you're driving on asphalt or a rough trail. Handling is also commendable.

Kuala Tahan,Mak Dalim & Kota Gelanggi Expedition

Kemaman 4 x 4 Club ( GEMBALLA ) and Kemaman Motorcross Club hasorganised a family trip from Kuala Tahan to Kota Gelanggi in Jengka takingKg Pagi and Kg Mak Dalim route
GEMBALLA departed from Chukai Kemaman at 4:30 p.m. A departure ceremonywas done by Yang DiPertua Majlis Pembandaran Kemaman ,Encik Mustofa B.Abdul Rahman,who is also a GEMBALA team member. Motorcross team departed at9.00 p.m. They arrived at Kuala Tahan at 2:30 a.m.

Due to limited time we camped near a bus stop. It was the first time we camped beside the road. Usually we camp near the rivers and waterfalls.

After light breakfast at the camp beside the road we left to Kg MakDalim at 10:00 a.m. We convoyed off on the off road. The logistic team stopped at Kg Pagi for some fresh water supply.We arrived at Kg Bantal at2:00 p.m. We rested after some 4 hour rough ride.

On the way to Kg Mak Dalim a 4 wheel drive driven by Pak Zuri with our photographer stopped due to tyre bolt arm came off.With the expertise and experience Pak Nan from the logistic team solved the problem.

Arrived at Kg Mak Dalim at 4:00 p.m we set up camps. Mothers started and make themselves busy with the cooking.Fathers and kids jumped into the river
Not much activities done on that night. Some chatted and some retire dearly due to long drive. About 10:00 p.m. it started to downpour. Some had to sleep in the vehicles due to tents leaked and collapsed.

Early next day at about 9:00 am we cleared our camp site. Before moved to Kota Gelingi, participants were briefed by Pak Awing team leader of the route and the challenges we were soon to face. Downpour had changed it into real tough off road ride.

We arrived at Felda Kota Gelinggi aborigin reservation at 5:00 pm.We rested at food stalls and later Gembala started their joourney home to Kemaman. Motocross team headed to Pusat Jengka mosque to refresh and to load their motorcycles onto a lorry.We arrived at Kemaman at 10:00 pm

AND ATV SAFETY
Off-road motorized recreation with motorcycles or four-wheel all-terrain Vehicles (ATVs) has gained rapid Increases in popularity. Riders of all ages are learning to tour back country and race competitively in a wide variety of venues. Due to the high speeds, potential for injury can be high. However, injuries can be reduced in number and magnitude by following some basic safety principles. Preparation is the key to a safe, enjoyable ride.

GET IN SHAPE FOR OFF-ROAD ACTIVITY

A common misconception is that “the bike does all the work.” One must prepare for the ride by engaging in a pre-ride fitness program. Cardiovascular training is critical. Many riders will use bicycling on the road or trails to prepare themselves for their competition.
Strength training with emphasis on the large hip and leg muscles, trunk stabilizers and grip strength enhance the rider’s ability to control the dirt bike for extended periods. For beginning riders, training should consist of a general endurance, strength and flexibility program conducted several days per week. Do not ride to get in condition, be in condition to ride. Competitive riders should perform “cardio” training (jogging, treadmill, etc.) off the dirt bike at least five hours per week and weight train three days per week. Flexibility programs before every session on or off the bike can better prepare and increase the effectiveness of the training session. Working with a personal trainer knowledgeable in these sports and a techniques coach can increase a rider’s performance significantly.

RIDE AT YOUR OWNSKILL LEVEL

Skill preparation and training can decrease injury potential and magnitude. Beginning riders should strongly consider a formal program such as those developed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and supported by major motorcycle and ATV manufacturers (see www.dirtbikeschool.org). One must ride within one’s own skill level.
Initial training should be in open fields, dirt lots, or dirt roads or trails. Motocross tracks should be for more experienced riders. Individual tracks may have mini, veteran and main tracks for various levels of riders. The rider should ride on a track appropriate for his skill. Tracks should be evaluated for their commitment to safety with trained floggers, fences and on-site medical personnel. Children must always be supervised. When a rider desires to begin racing, he should obtain additional training and knowledge of racing techniques and rules prior to the first competition.

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM INJURY

Protective equipment designed specifically for the sport and the individual must be worn whenever one is on the bike. The body should be protected from head to toe. When any item of protective gear is damaged, it must be replaced or repaired. MSF schools will provide equipment and bikes for the lessons, allowing beginning riders to experience the sport without needing to purchase equipment. The helmet should be designed for the sport with full face coverage including chin protection. The helmet should be worn at all times one is on the bike or on the track. Certification by the Snell Foundation ensures a quality helmet. Children’s helmets should be of the new design, not just mini-adult helmets.
If a helmet is damaged in any way, it should be replaced. Most manufacturers will check a helmet for integrity following a crash. Buying a used helmet is not recommended. Mouth guards are helpful to prevent dental and jaw injuries and may decrease head injury severity. Eye protection with sport-specific goggles should always be worn with the helmet.
The upper extremities and chest should be protected with a long-sleeved jersey, elbow pads and gloves. The chest, shoulder and upper arms should be protected with polycarbonate chest protector with shoulder and arm extensions. An alternative device is an under-jersey garment with protective cups and pads. Most riders will also wear a supportive lumbar spine (lower back) wrap.
The lower extremities can be well protected with motocross pants with hip and coccyx (“tail bone”) pads. The knees should be supported with a functional knee brace with a patellar (kneecap) cup. These braces come in many forms and prices and are available from local motorcycle dealers, by mail order or from your orthopedic surgeon. High boots designed for off-road riding should be worn by both dirt bike and ATV riders. They should fit well and be secured prior to starting the machine.

OFF-ROAD SAFETY

Additional protective equipment, such as neck rolls, custom knee braces and wrist braces, are sometimes used but their effectiveness in preventing or reducing injury has not yet been determined.

KEEP YOUR EQUIPMENT IN TOP SHAPE

The vehicle must also be well-prepared and suited for the event. Riders should choose a bike or ATV appropriate for their age, size and experience level.
Most states will not allow children under 16 to ride larger bikes and ATVs. A pre-ride inspection is always performed including inspection of the tires and wheels; inspection of controls, lights and electric as equipped; oil and other fluids; and inspection of the chassis including the suspension and drive chain. Maintenance of the bike should be performed regularly to prevent catastrophic failure. Off-road riding is a fun recreational and competitive sport enjoyed by increasing numbers of male and female athletes of all ages. Although injuries do occur their frequency and severity can be decreased by improving the rider’s fitness and skill level, using the proper protective equipment, making the correct bike choice and maintaining it in excellent condition, and by riding within one’s own ability.

People who own off-road vehicles want to drive on different terrains for an exciting driving experience. Off-road driving can usually be performed by numerous models of 4x4 trucks and sport utility vehicles. Keep these things in mind if you plan to drive off-road. Read on to learn how to drive off-road
Step1
Check the area for any possible danger. Survey the area that you plan to take the vehicle off-road. You need to see if there is any debris on the ground that can cause damage to your vehicle.
Step2
Go slow around corners. You should go at a low speed around corners while off-road driving. This will make a smoother ride.

Increase your speed at a modest rate. When you are going up or down hills off-road, you should start in a low gear and then pick up speed in a gradual manner. Pushing down on the gas can cause the vehicle to slide on slippery surfaces.
Step4
Brake smoothly. Do not brake suddenly because it can cause you to lose control of the vehicle.
Step5
Sign up for an off-road driving course. For inexperienced drivers, this may be the safest option for taking your vehicle off-road. These are closed courses in a controlled setting with professionals helping you drive the vehicle.

10 Safety Rule for Off-Road Driving

Four-wheeling is one of the more exciting hobbies you can experience. Going off road opens your eyes to places you would not otherwise see. It also challenges you, as the terrain is far different from what you are accustomed to driving on. And you can find yourself in a remote and very hostile environment in just a few hours.

Follow these very important rules for a safer and more enjoyable ride.

Let someone know where you will be and when you expect to return. This applies to all trips, not just those in challenging areas. People have been known to get stuck or lost in relatively easy terrain. Should something happen and you’re unable to leave the area or call for help, your friends or family will know to contact authorities

Always have at least one other vehicle along. This ensures that you will have transportation out in the event your vehicle becomes stuck or damaged and can’t be fixed there. Plus, the extra vehicle means additional manpower to help with problems.

Pack survival gear. Even a Sunday drive on the beach can turn sour. Pack the proper gear to get you through the night and to handle medical emergencies that may occur.

Tie everything down inside. Your gear will go flying around if you roll over or lay the vehicle on its side. Loose items become missiles which can injure and kill anyone inside.

Everyone wears a seatbelt, just like when you drive on paved roads. You and your passengers will get jostled around quite a bit on many of the trails. Plus, the possibility for a rollover or crash exists at any time. The big rock you suddenly hit could cause you or your passengers to go flying out a window. Make sure everyone is belted in.

Arms and legs must remain inside. Many trails run through narrow passageways. Any arms or legs hanging outside can get torn off by the trees, cliff walls, or rocks just outside your vehicle. If the vehicle begins to tip your instinct is to put your hand out. There is no way you will be able to stop a vehicle this way. Roll your windows up if you can’t control the urge.

Also, make sure no one holds onto the roll bar. Their fingers will get smashed in the event of a roll over. Hands can also be injured if you drive under low-hanging branches.

Quit if you become tired. Four-wheeling requires the utmost concen-tration. Any letdown can lead to an accident and perhaps death. If you feel fatigued at all, pull over and rest, or let someone else drive. Do not force it.

Lock it down. When driving off-road, you are seldom on level ground. Make sure your vehicle will not roll away from you. When you stop, put the vehicle in park, apply the emergency brake, and turn off the engine.

Do not hang on a vehicle. If the vehicle gets stuck in a precarious position, do not try to pull it down or otherwise tip it by hand. And absolutely do not climb on the vehicle. Use the proper tools and techniques, and always be a safe distance away. A vehicle can and will crush you if given the chance.

Treat winches and high-lift straps with respect. The straps, clevises, and other pieces are under extreme tension when in use. Inspect all parts before using, and stand clear while you are trying to recover a vehicle. A failure in gear or rigging can be lethal to you and by standers.
